Eugene Chiropractor

I couldn't walk upright anymore.

At only 27 years old I had been transformed into a grouchy, stooped over and limping shell of my former self. I hadn't been able to work for two weeks.

My life changing experience.

Finally a concerned friend made me go to her chiropractor. I was terrified. I had no idea what a chiropractor was. I think that I was expecting a witch doctor! But after an examination of my aching back, the chiropractor had me lay on my side and pushed on my back. I heard a popping noise in my back and in a few seconds, two weeks of terrible pain was gone! That moment changed my life forever. I knew that I was meant to help people the way that this doctor had just helped me. I quit my job the next day and began my chiropractic education.

I got my chiropractic degree at Cleveland Chiropractic College in Los Angeles. One of the surprising things I found out is that a chiropractor's education is nearly identical to a medical doctor's education. During my four years at Cleveland, courses included biochemistry, a major emphasis on anatomy and human physiology, x-ray, diagnosis, chiropractic adjusting techniques and patient care.

We love skeptics here.

We love turning skeptics into chiropractic advocates! It make us feel good to see people realize that their adjustment really helped them. I still remember the concerns and apprehension I had when I went to the chiropractor for the first time. So we make it a point to explain everything in advance, answer questions and attempt to over communicate. In my opinion, new patients appreciate that.

My wife Robbin and I enjoy traveling abroad and scuba diving. We have been to over 25 countries, but we still haven't found a place that we enjoy more than Oregon. It is nice to get away for awhile, but it is even better coming home to Eugene. It is our favorite place on earth.

Chiropractors need chiropractic care too!

Even when we travel, we make sure to visit a chiropractor somewhere in the world and get adjusted at least once a week. Since getting my first adjustment and learning about the amazing health benefits of chiropractic care, I have gotten an adjustment at least once a week since 1994. I haven't needed to take a prescription drug since 1994 also. I have hardly been sick at all since then, and if I do get a cold or something, it never lasts more than a few days. A quick visit to my chiropractor kicks my immune system into high gear and I feel better fast.

Dr. Matt Asks some important questions of interest to Eugene residents - Chiropractor Eugene Dr. Matt Asks...

Will chiropractic adjustments make my spine too loose?
No. Only the spinal joints that are fixated and "locked up" receive attention. The occasional spinal joint that moves too much is passed over so weakened muscles and ligaments can strengthen and heal.
What does a chiropractic adjustment do?
Chiropractic adjustments give your spine a little "nudge" at the right place, right time and the right direction so your body can use that energy to "right" itself. With a schedule of consistent chiropractic visits, a new, healthier spinal pattern emerges.
